I will try to answer questions that keep coming up here. If you have one for me shoot me an email at: beth319@myeclecticmess.com

What kind of sewing machines do you have available in the sewing workroom?

In order to offer a high quality and reliable sewing experience for my customers I chose to stock the sewing room with brand-new Viking sewing machines. I have two top-of-the-line Sapphire 870Q and four electronic Emerald 186 models. The 186 models are simple, basic machines that will meet the needs of most sewers. The 870Q models offer more advanced features such as automatic buttonholes, automatic tension control, and a number of decorative stitches. In addition to these six machines I also have a Viking Huskylock 936 serger. This machine is capable of; overlock seam finishes, coverlock, chain stitch, rolled hems and more!

I have a group of friends who like to get together for Girls’ Night Out. Could we use your classroom for a crafty get together?

Absolutely! We are all about the fun here at MEM. If our Messy Craft Room isn’t being used for a class, it can be reserved for a craft related get together. Bring your own projects or talk to us about putting together a project for your group. Basic room rental costs $5/person and project costs vary.

I fancy myself quite crafty. Do you have job openings at MEM?

Right now the answer will have to be a qualified “maybe.” As an independent store owner I’m faced with a double edge sword. On one hand, my budget is severely limited until I build the business up to a certain level. On the other hand, I can’t be all things to all people ALL THE TIME and I only have so many hours in a day. If you have a special talent that you’d like to share with other Mess Makers, stop in, introduce yourself and show me what you’ve got to offer. My business plan has a goal of adding at least two teachers and/or part-time sales people by the fall of 2008. I want to fill those positions with talented, friendly, and knowledgeable people with an array of crafting interests.

Will any of the members of the Mess Maker Family Zoo be on the regular staff?

No. Even though the dogs, cats, snake and mice are very important members (to some of us anyway!) of the Mess Family, they will not become official MEM shop pets. As homey and charming as we strive to make MEM, I’ve decided to respect the needs of my customers with allergies and phobias and keep the furrier (and scalier) members of the staff at home.

Are my children welcome at MEM?

Only the really messy ones! ;) We will have a small play area to help keep your little ones happy while you enjoy shopping at MEM.
We do ask that you leave your darlings at home when you come in to use the workrooms or when taking a class. This way both you and your classmates can relax and get the most out of your creative time.
We also offer classes, parties, clubs and summer camps specifically for our youngest customers.

I am an independent craft designer. Would you be interested in selling my kits/patterns/books at MEM?

I feel very strongly about supporting the independent artist/designer. I’m always looking for unique, quality products to offer my customers. Email me a product list, price sheet, and any other pertinent information at: products@myeclecticmess.com

Can I reserve time in your workroom to work on REALLY messy projects like paper mache or fabric dyeing?

Yes. We’re not called My Eclectic Neat & Tidy now are we? One of the goals at MEM is to offer crafters & artists a place to play and experiment with mediums they may not want to try out in their home because of space or equipment limitations. We only ask that you follow all reasonable safety measures and respect our landlords’ property by protecting your work area. We also have use of the basement for REALLY REALLY REALLY messy projects!
